Implementing XML ... 2 days

The industry-leading format for representing and exchanging information

XML, the eXtensible Markup Language, enables IT groups to make a significant impact on the way their companies manage information. XML permeates the web, enabling greater interactivity and tighter integration with back-end applications. This course guides you through the basics of design, syntax, and implementation of XML.

At the end of the first day, you値l have enough knowledge to understand the XML architecture and fulfill the role of a XML schema architect. You値l be familiar with the syntax, structure, and design elements of XML. You値l be able to analyze third-party designs and create XML structures of your own. The second day moves into a technical application of XML using the Document Object Model.

You値l learn from professionals with real-world experience developing and enhancing applications using XML. You値l work in labs at your own computer connected to a relational database and a web server. The informal setting of the course promotes discussion and reinforces concepts through hands-on lab exercises.

At the completion of the course, you値l be able to structure and implement XML solutions using the Document Object Model (DOM). You値l be able to make major contributions on any project that uses XML.

Students can vote on a secondary XML topic to be covered at the end of the second day. Topics include XSL, XSLT, XPath, HTML DOM, SOAP and BizTalk.
